Ask HN: EPS vs. AI Vector Format

Sorry for maybe a silly question. I've heard that .EPS is a dying format, is it true? What should I use in my work, and can I delete the .EPS duplicates to make some space on my hard disk?

I don't print anything, all my work is mostly for the web.
