Ask HN: No Meetings Culture?

1 points by tra3 ↗ HN
In a previous thread [0] someone posted about having very few meetings:

> This is precisely why when I started my company I committed to only hiring contract devs for 10-20 hours per week. No meetings. No bullshit. I pay you a high hourly wage, you do as much (often more) work than if you were a salaried 40 hour FTE, and you likely make more money in the process.

If this is you, or your company/team functions the same way I'd like to understand how you got there. This is in the name of self interest. I want to be a part of such a team. I'm part of 2 teams right now and have an average of 3 hours a meetings a day.

1. Was the company/team started as a 0-meetings [1] company at the outset? 2. If not, how did it transition to 0-meetings 3. How do you onboard new people? 4. How do you deal with business folks that require lots of face to face? 5. Any other tips?

1: "0-meetings" is a stand in for "very very few meetings".

Thank you
