>However, “marketplace” sites which offer membership to large segments of the public may serve as common identity providers; for instance, a consortium of professional organizations, or a service that verifies real-world identity and background.
I don't want an "identity", I want an email address. Crime is for law enforcement to address, not for victimizing innocent non-criminals. Criminals will find a new way, while we'll end up even more locked down. With all due respect, [redacted].
>Furthermore, a majority of email users are plugged into other messaging services, discussion sites, and groupware apps. At least 90 million3 have replaced email where possible with Slack and MS Teams.
Majority does not speak for all. Slack and MS Teams are both [redacted] IMHO.
>We no longer need an Internet-wide messaging system that makes everyone on it accessible by everyone else without consent or limits.
Speak for yourself.
>Sunsetting SMTP is clearly necessary and feasible.
Again, with all due respect, [redacted], I don't think this is in any way necessary, and hopefully not feasible.
The demo[1] illustrates how a collection of TMTP services enable replacement of email, and the FAQ[2] describes the process by which TMTP would grow to supplant SMTP.

Law enforcement cannot cross international borders. Phishing email sails thru.
The protocol uses JSON, not node.js. The mnm client & server are written in Go.
If you wish to be insulting, just have at it; no need to extend "all due respect".
