Didn’t knew about them but I agree the idea is pretty close.

The article is not about theory though, it’s about practical application. A naïve implementation of 4-DOP in 2D gonna have dot products i.e. more expensive to deal with. I’ve been working with graphics for many years, yet I never saw similar stuff in pre-existing software or libraries. That’s why I wrote that article and sample code.

Don't get me wrong -- that was a compliment. Good work! And as you say, practical.
