I found Kalman filter very very undervalued in usage, and it's one of the best way to greatly filter out stream of data.
Have you seen some VR / AR applications that apply some visual effects on human faces? Or something that visualizes hand position in space - based on some controllers? Have you seen these visualizations having a spontaneous jumps in position of theirs visualization? These are areas where Kalman filtration can be applied.
Cool! Check out the textbook “Probabilistic Robotics” for great explanations of the Kalman filter zoo. Bayes Filtering, Kalman Filtering, EKF, UKF, Particle Filter, etc.
