Ask HN: Google Certificate for Android Development?

I want to learn to code / sign-up for a course on coding & I just received an e-mail that The Google Certificates option has opened up.

The "degrees" to pursue are IT Support, Data Analytics, Project Management, UX Design & Android Development.

I was about to sign-up for Android Development, but out of all the career-paths listed, it has the lowest of "job-openings" (albeit higher entry-level pay) out of the certificates offered .. ~ 36,000.

For $39/mo., (& 6 mo. worth of time) is learning to code with Kotlin a good place to start?

If you were to pursue the "Learn to code at 30" route, would you sign-up for a bootcamp or just buy Eloquent Javascript & charge?
