Ask HN: What phone provider do you recommend for privacy?

I realize it may be a contradictory question, that for privacy concerns it is better to not own a phone at all - I am open to that however I don't see how it would work for me yet - however I currently use Google Fi and have been transitioning away from Google for other services.
