They've done pretty well with github. Actually I suspect Discord might be intended for integrating with github communities, which sounds like a really nice idea to me to be honest.
Only if they add a jabber or matrix/IRC bridge. Not being able to join the project group chat unless you run closed software from Microsoft sounds awful.
I would unironically love Discord for Business, unless it just becomes a re-skinned MS Teams (re-skinned Skype for Business, which was re-skinned Lync)
Microsoft to buy a communications platform? I guess today's Microsoft isn't the same one that bought Skype but this comedy video of the "Skype CEO" is terribly relevant.
It's funny, because as I remember it, locking down multiple-person video chats was about when they started to die. They even briefly touch on that in the video, too.
I remember that they did some other stupid things around the same time, but not what they were.
Once upon a time... I left IRC, and when doing so I ended up hooking up with some of my friends from IRC on Skype. After much complaining about the poor state of Skype for Linux and Skype on Mobile, I left Skype for Discord somewhere around 2015. Is it time to leave Discord for IRC again? :)
