Lovely birds!
I clicked on this for all the wrong reasons.
This is a great replacement for the apocryphal tale about collectively-punishing monkeys when one tries to eat a banana, so that monkeys develop a mukti-generational culture of forceful preventing each other from eating banana.
Came here for the wrong reason. Oh well! I Learned something new.
I know it's the bird, but I will never stop laughing at these.

Excerpts like "Great tits seem to do well in and among human-made habitats" are close enough to some sort of Monty Python-esque line that it gets me every time. I wonder if people do it intentionally, like how the downtrodden journalism majors that get stuck sexying up headlines can't resist horrible puns.

Americans insist on calling these things chickadees. This is usually interpreted by Brits as prudishness.
We have a similar bird in America called a chickadee in the same family, but we also have another bird in the same family called “titmouse” so I really doubt it was due to prudishness.
I bow to superior knowledge.
