Ask HN: How would you like to be managed?

Title says it all :) My preference is loose, but with guidance. I work best with some targets, free to tackle them how I choose, and knowing that someone is checking in with me. If it’s not my company, I would preferably like to work under the owner as well. What was your best experience in being managed?

All I want is firm requirements. Give me exactly what you want, when you want it and I’ll go do it. If you want it a certain way, fine, just tell me so I do it that way and don’t have to rework it.
