Running apt-get install wine ( wrong version) uninstalled my OS

I run kubuntu... I went to install the wrong wine version (i386 instead of amd)... and saw a bunch of packages to be removed. I figured, eh, probably was an old wine install.

So, I restart my computer, and my operating system is gone. Seems like a bug.

I'm curious if you had followed someone's instructions on this.
The command was simple enough...

sudo apt-get install wine winetricks

and apt-get suggested i install something else, so I did. Wasn't really thinking it might uninstall most of my OS. Trying to get files off the HD now to reinstall.

I don't use Kbuntu but I don't see why it would be any different than the standard vanilla ubuntu. What version of the os did you start with? Sorry this has happened to you. I'm not a developer of wine or the ubuntu distro but I was wondering if you saw any indication that packages would be removed before proceeding? I'd imagine you must have had quite a long list..

I'm assuming that is what happened. Could you elaborate on what you mean by the os is gone? Did it fail to boot? Did it get past the initramfs part? Or was that cooked too?
