Ask HN: How to reconcile individualistic thinking with sociality?

I feel like there is a constant tug of war in my mind between the creative, intellectual, and individualistic thought I use when programming, and fitting into social norms by thinking in terms of everyday conversation.

I feel as though I've isolated myself in the past by thinking too technically or intellectually, but then again that's what's necessary to generate novel, non-obvious solutions. I never used to feel pressure to conform socially, but I've gotten so lonely that continuing to think and live in a highly individualistic manner seems unsustainable.

Can anyone relate or offer advice?
