I wish Reddit could afford a translation service.
why there is ask hn for that. built a nice api around that and you get high quality translation as a service. it also comes powered with a good AI.

Trying to give it some context and a (possibly not right) English translation from Google translate:

  Hi Kids.

Linus Thorvalds is not so happy to use C ++ to write the Linux kernel in - as he thinks STL and Boost are unstable and not portable, and that you become dependent on the abstraction models you get built in the program, which may later turn out to become ineffective. What do you think about that?

He does not know what he is talking about and he attracts attention by expressing himself rudely. If he had had a good argument he could have used it quietly and politely.
Thanks for this. I was looking to post both but turns out I can't.

Should have been "Hi Bjarne", but the author made a typo and missed the j.

"barne" is not really a word, although it is how you conjugate child (barn) for use in compound words (baby carriage = barnevogn), which is probably why Google translate decided to go with "kids".

What kind of nonsense submission is this?

Did OP fail to nice that it was from 2016 no? Not that hard to put 2016 in title but you got your attention so good for you.

I've never seen Stroustrup write so bluntly. But yeah, I get it...
Thank you, every time I talk about how bad a programmer he really is this website goes crazy with the downvotes. One of the reasons linux is bloated crap these days is Linus. FreeBSD all the way
