Ask HN: When did Google search improve for you the last time?

I don't really use it that often, my default search engine is DDG. I sometimes do !gm searches though.

I'm as Anti-Google as they come. I gave DDG a fair shake for a couple months, but the number of times I was adding !g grew to be absurd so I switched back. My experience was that Google is far better at answering programming queries. I've also noticed that it's only that good when I'm logged in. So there are some benefits to personalizing search.

Ditto. I still have ddg set as default on all devices, but I have to !g almost every single search because ddg doesn't return the results I wanted then, boom, Google just nails it everytime.
