Not even remotely surprising. In fact this was on the ballot so you know where you peers fall on this sort of thing.

Also, why is just one demographic being singled out for protection from discrimination?

Hirono effectively said they're fine with this form of discrimination. Its not an endearing statement or point.

But I like your last line, indeed, all discrimination matters.

This is intellectually interesting (in the sense that the GOP is grandstanding by trying to illegalize something that is already illegal), but it's also a political culture war that I don't think we should wage on this site.
