The government could crush bitcoin in an instant. No laws are needed nor are any direct enforcement actions necessary. Its quite simple: Quit printing so much money, quit living with perpetual deficits, and enact strict financial policies.

We all understand thats not possible, hence the rise of bitcoin (and other hedges). Bitcoin is a response to a failing financial system, not the cause of its collapse. In a sane world with sane money, the project would've never gotten off the ground.

The DoD could 51% attack bitcoin with 1% of it's yearly budget.
