Great, finally some politics on here /s
If people can post about China's human rights violations against Uyghurs, the same can be posted about Israel's human rights violations in Palestine.
To be fair some of those posts has been about digital censorship and surveillance.
Hackernews has plenty of posts that have nothing to do with digital platforms.
I dont know. If you take a look at the neighbourhood, were the "decolonialization" has happened what it entails, im just not so sure anymore.

Egypts minoritys regularly get hate-crimes commite against them. Syria, which was as close to the idyllic picture of "coexistance" painted here, as a minority ruled dictatorship can get - and its been a battlefield for almost a decade now.

And everyone is always a settler, displacing somebody who came before him. The neanderthals who called dibs, were merged and murdered just as all who came after.

The moment human nature goes into full cycle of strife, all things go down the drain. Huge numbers of children with no economic future, endless civil war or war at the "other". There never was a paradise in the past, at best there were small scale holocausts and oppression by the current ruler not written down. Someones good times, were someone elses bad times.

Im deeply worried that this constant pressure of atrocities will undermine israels democracy longterm. With every colonization and power projection comes a shift towards the right and "good" times for religious zealots.

Im admit i once was advocating for the reversal to "pluralism" in my youth. Older now, i know it would just be the rule of the next "stronger" probably ending in a butchers shop like syria or libya.

Nobody is supposed to life in a camp. But nobody should life in fear of somebody outside of a camp, because that somebody is unwilling to compromise to a society not constantly sliding towards the point of butchering.

Israel should ditch its religious zealots. Reason should prevail, and if its needed for that to separate out the unreasonable into positions were they can do no harm, no matter what side, then be it.

Politics much. Facts little.

Probably not much flaming because the left already decided their version, and the right don't want to die on this hill. Still not really HN material, if we want the forums to keep their current quality.
