What's the deal with companies like Verizon and WarnerMedia buying dying companies and just sitting on them while they depreciate even further then selling them once they've dropped to less than 50% of the purchase value?

Seems like they have no competent leaders.

No idea about yahoo, but AOL holding ginormous real estate portfolio.
