[–] SideburnsOfDoom 5y ago ↗ Manufacturing mRNA Vaccines is Surprisingly Straightforward. Compared to conventional vaccine production, mRNA factories are: * 99 - 99.9% smaller * 95 - 99.7% cheaper * 1,000% fasterCory Doctorow [–] _Microft 5y ago ↗ Attributing that to Cory Doctorow seems strange. He also only extracted that out of the linked paper at https://aiche.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/amp2.... [–] gus_massa 5y ago ↗ On the other hand:* Derek Lowe thinks it's difficult to produce mRNA vaccines https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2021/02/02/my... [He worked in the pharmaceutical industry and his Chemical articles are pretty solid.]* The main discussion is about the Oxford/Astrazeneca that is not a mRNA vaccine.I'd take all the other conclusions of the article with a grain of salt. [–] SideburnsOfDoom 5y ago ↗ The article seems to be more about the longer term way forward, i.e. what _can_ be done with mRNA vaccines.
