Ask HN: Did you quit tech job and come back? how is it on the other side

I'd like to leverage my comfortable position as a SWE with comfortable (but not great/exceptional!) financial situation to venture into another line of work that I have no idea about but willing to learn. My reasoning is if things go south, I can always come back to tech since I have 10+ years of experience and it's in constant demand.

Did you quit your tech job to do something else? what was it like? Any learning you could share fellow HN-ers?
