[Ask HN] 20 hour solo road trip: What podcasts should I listen to?

2 points by fergie ↗ HN
Hi HN!

Due to a funeral and air-travel restrictions, I find myself embarking on a solo 20-hour road trip tomorrow. I love podcasts, and this would be a great opportunity to catch up, but I am a bit fed up of my usual fare, and would love to check out something new. My tastes are pretty wide and I generally find stuff that I like on the front page of HN. I am also a total sucker for "Hot Network Questions" on the bottom right of stackoverflow.

So HNers- Which podcasts should I listen to? Have you got into anything good podcast-wise lately? Is there a podcast on your radar that looks interesting but you haven't checked out yet?

All tips and suggestions considered with thanks! :)

Darknet diaries gets a lot of love from the infosec crowd.

Also, have you considered asking will.i.am? ;)

the daily punch, pod save america and Gabfest are all great political podcasts.
The popular stuff is easy to find (though I love This American Life as much as anyone…), so I’ll mention a few that haven’t had much distribution:

* The Red Line, where each episode covers a geopolitical issue by interviewing 3 experts: https://www.theredlinepodcast.com/

* Bangkok Podcast, for a glimpse of expat life: https://www.bangkokpodcast.com/ (places to start: https://www.bangkokpodcast.com/linguist-rikker-dockum-on-rai..., https://www.bangkokpodcast.com/thailands-freedom-of-expressi...)

* S-Town, which was incredibly popular when it was released but rarely comes up now: https://stownpodcast.org/

Reply All is great, though I think it is embroiled in some controversy right now.

Corecursive is my podcast about the stories behind software development. I think hn readers would like it.
