Your mind replays previous experiences so that you can learn from them. Shortly after a traumatic experience, you may not understand what you did wrong, but after growing as a human, you may be able to understand it years later. Replaying experiences is more valuable than immediately attempting to internalize lessons.
This is what I learn from my experience. Think too much in the past -> Depression. Try too much to see in the future -> Anxiety. The best way is staying the present. Here try to practice breathing. It helps a lot.
