If Bill does face fallout over his Epstein connection, will the divorce play a role in shielding the BM Gates Foundation? Who gets custody?

The fascination with this somewhat trivial aspect of Gates's life is interesting, given the almost willful blindness towards controversial elements of his background.

The foundation is a foundation... it's a seperate corporate person from BG. At worst, the foundation will have to change its name.
Unless one wished to remarry (or if small children and possession issues are involved) there is no reason for a billionaire to get divorced.

I would bet there is some estate-planning or tax advantage behind it all. I admit I’m cynical... but, it seems silly for someone with access to, essentially, infinite wealth, to worry about getting some paperwork from a district judge.

I mean...the only additional reason that affects we plebs is that we don't want someone else having a say on our financial decisions. But that seems valid for a divorce even amongst the ultra-rich; they want to be able to control where their personal funds are going, without anyone else having a say. And the response that "well, they could just agree that each get half and they function independently" is no less true for we poor commoners if our significant other is amenable.
In this case, what meets the eye is completely different from what is happening in background. The Melinda PR team seems to be doing a better job - but folks what you are watching is most likely a well funded PR campaign. It may or may not have any grounding in reality. It could also be a method to fence wire the foundation from future revelations.
