Cryptocurrency is a union of people who hate banks, people who hate taxes, and people who hate financial transparency.

Sprinkled with a dash of the newly wealthy who aren't informed about legal ways to dodge taxes.

Somehow, I am less than surprised that population includes a large percentage of folks tax authorities would be interested in...

Which has nothing to do with the technology itself, only those it's marketed to.

Not to mention shutting down the gas pipeline for a crypto-based ransom. I'd imagine there is going to be a lot more regulatory look at it very soon.
That would be a stupid idea for the US government. They want to encourage crypto because they know it’s unbanable and if the US doesn’t control it then other countries will.
How would a legit company like a grid operator pay a ransom in it if it is banned?
This is only the beginning, there will be a massive crypto tax-reckoning in the coming years and it will, unfortunately, come on the backs of relatively small time investors.
