Is this the same George Church that discussed eugenics with Jeffrey Epstein as part of his plan to create a "baby farm" on his ranch in New Mexico where the late Epstein wanted to impregnate a few dozen (underage?) girls to seed the next generation with his "superior" DNA?
Wonder if the article was written to try to rehabilitate Church's image within the science community, many of whom have now come to realize that his success, like that of his best buddy Martin Nowak, was predicated on denying the suffering endured by countless so-called "sex slaves," that one of Mr. Epstein's chief enablers once described as "trailer park trash," and who now herself is about to stand trial in federal court for the sex-trafficking of minors.
Also take note of the fact that Mr. Church accepted money on behalf of the Harvard Medical School from Mr. Epstein, allegedly as a form of "reputation laundering" for the convicted child rapist in order to help him evade prosecution on federal racketeering charges in 2019, *AFTER* his appointment to a faculty position at Harvard University which was was what presumably afforded him the opportunity to do some of the important work that is attributed to him.
There is simply no excuse, and his apology for many still falls on deaf ears.
Does anyone know where the money is coming from? I'm guessing foundations like Schmidt Futures? It seems like financing is the crucial challenge for getting anything like this off the ground.
I'm mostly raising money from people who read my blog (guzey.com) at the moment lol but planning to go to foundations and people interested in funding basic science at scale in the future..
