Hey HN community, this is a port of GemRB which is a reimplementation of the Infinity Engine that powered Baldur's Gate 2.

Various optimizations have been made to ensure the game demo loads fast and is performant on all devices. If any users can test on an M1 Macbook it would be great to hear how it performs on this new Apple hardware!

Mouse lag needs to be fixed.
Yeah for sure, many more optimizations to be made. Thanks for the great feedback!
Crashes after a few steps in creating a new character :-( (on firefox 78.10). Too bad it looked good :-)
Thanks for the feedback! We're trying our best to hunt down bugs in the port. Curious what hardware are you running on btw?

Also, try running the demo again in Chrome or Safari.

For me it froze when selecting "Custom" on the character image. Firefox 88.0.1 on Lenovo T480s running Fedora.
It did that for me too. Next time I didn't go there and it worked.
Impressive. Tried on Chrome. I had to zoom out to 25% for more clear text. Everything lags, so not really playable but it looks like it works.
What device did you try on? PC/Mac or mobile?

Thanks for the feedback!

New-ish chrome here on OS X, slow MacBook yet it runs flawlessly :D
Try it on an M1 Mac if you can!
I tried this in Firefox and Chrome on an M1 Mac, and it went nuts when trying to do the tutorial. After completing my character, the status bar at the bottom just starts filling with huge amounts of text and it's no longer interactive at all.
Just did a quick test using Firefox 88.0.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 and it ran very well. No mouse lag at all, just some minor UI stuff like strings showing up in the dialogue and interface elements. Great work.
Impressed that it actually works on mobile with nice speed.

Mouse cursor seems offset a fair bit to the left of where I tap, on mobile (Chrome on Android).
