Google announced in a support page: Starting in late 2021, when a user opts out of interest-based advertising or ads personalization, the advertising identifier will not be available. You will receive a string of zeros in place of the identifier.

This is a good follow up on Apple's iOS 14 privacy push to limit cross app tracking. For Facebook, it's more trouble as it further limits their ad tracking ecosystem.

Today, Facebook's biggest regret would probably be their lack of attempt at building an operating system like Android and iOS.

Google makes money from ads as well. Why would they do this?
They probably have all the data they need already. Between google search, google analytics, and now floc they are in a pretty good position.

They did build "Facebook home" almost a decade ago tho. They should probably regret not pushing android manufacturers to use it on their phones.

True. Plus, Google and Apple already have so many first party services to dictate the type of data they need. Ominous signs for Facebook ahead
