How do you connect with like-minded devs online, or even better, in your area?

I want to meet people in the developer community here locally,(coastal NC- Wilmington) but I'm also seeking some good online spots to find some good community interaction on everything from start-up entrepreneurship to programming/platform applications and ideas.
