One trick for depression is to go out and find someone in a worse situation than you and help them. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, they surely need a hand. Maybe it won't make you happy but you could potentially improve someone else's life before you go.
And some suggested reading: "Man's search for meaning", by Viktor Frankl. Also a great title on Audible.
