Ask HN: What iOS/Android do you use for Hacker News

5 points by leejoramo ↗ HN
For many years, I have used MiniHack on iOS to read Hacker News. Despite years without updates and increasing bugs, I have never found a better HN client app. Now MiniHack has been pulled from the App Store entirely, I really need to move on. What do you use?

Safari. Like OP, I used MiniHack for a while. Got a new device and started using Safari and it's been fine.
I use Firefox.
Same, I find night mode very convenient
Same. If I can view it in the browser I'm not using an app.
I wish there was one that was more than just a re-skinning of the site. Would love something with the ability to block users, keywords, and sites.
2020 iPhone SE, just using Safari
Octal

It's nicer than using the web site and doesn't do anything obnoxious like harass me to turn on notifications or share contacts.

iOS, I use Hack:

Very customizable. Looks a bit Android-y for an iOS app, but its looks fit the HN community.

Before I used Octal, which was great for browsing HN but was very slow to load comments. Also when typing comments, you had to scroll up to reach the “post comment” button and if you scrolled up 1 pixel too far it would interpret it as “dismiss the comment sheet” and throw away your comment text without warning. And posting a comment could take more than a minute.

Developer here. Feel free to ask questions. I am also working on an Android client which should be available in couple weeks.
