The day I put a gratuitous video on my 404 pages, instead of something useful like a search box and a list of links to pages they may have meant to see, is the day I stop making web sites.
It's a 404 page with a giant, hi-res auto-playing video (with sound!) that brings my browser to its knees. (Seriously, just scrolling the page got laggy once the video started trying to play.)
Before anyone asks, this is on a machine with 2 gigabytes of ram. (Though I'm using my hotel's wireless internet connection, which is incredibly high-latency. The bandwidth is great when everything isn't constantly timing out.)
Anyway, this is a good idea for a 404 page how? I'm sure the video is hilarious, but I find it difficult to appreciate when it runs at a quarter-frame per second.
