What? BitClout is growing faster than Facebook?

I quickly researched the early days' user growth of Facebook and BitClout.

Facebook:

- launched in October 2003

- hit 1M registered users in December 2004 (after 14 months)

BitClout:

- launched in March 2021

- today has 280k users (after 3 months)

With a simple linear proportion, we can tell that it's going to reach 1M registered users in ~12 months from the launch (~March 2022).

~20% faster than Facebook.

Just curious to hear your thoughts on this.

In 2003, much of the US (let alone the world) was still running on dial-up

In 2021 over half the world is running a smartphone of come kind - ie, they have high-speed data

Word-of-mouth (literally) and early restrictions on thefacebook[dot]com meant you had to have a .edu email address to join (and initially it was limited to Zuckerburg's own university - even having a .edu didn't guarantee access ...your school had to have already been added as a valid domain)

Kinda like saying a Tesla is faster than a Model A

Duh

Facebook started with US universities, you had to have a .edu email address if I recall correctly. Early 2005 it added UK universities. So it's not like the whole world was even able to signup.
