This is an old article from 3/4/2021 and there have been discussions on HN about this before.
The wildest one was some guy busts in on a bike, fills up a big bag with stuff and takes off to the sight of nonplussed shoppers... this happened just recently.

But yeah, cheesy pudding is just goading people to fire him at this point.

You can’t blame a store that clears in the order of $1000 profit per day to stay open in the face of greater losses from unprosecuted theft.

You can’t make up for losses in volume.

I wonder why those stores didn't employ armed security like in Baltimore? Our Walmart's have actual police posted up at the exits.
