Besides ddg which is great, I do also love and use daily startpage.com which is a private proxy for google searches. For it I can profit of the great search from Google but still get privacy even when browsing sites and images.
I'll probably get down-voted into oblivion for claiming 'the emperor has no clothes' but I find DDG's results to be pretty mediocre at best. StartPage is much better.
