Western culture is not a monolithic entity. And in fact, it is not even western.

In Europe when we learn history we start with Mesopotamia and Egypt.

Like child raising without yelling and without timeouts. That's just one example.

Genuinely disgusted that other cultures' approaches were seen in a negative light. Especially when they can inform and be applied elsewhere.

I find myself deleting "western" from "western civilization" a lot lately.

Chris Lasch's "Culture of Narcissism" applies to the 1970+ US, Ancient Rome, Heian and Tokugawa periods in Japan. The CCP would like to think it has the cure but I am certain China has the disease too.
