This has been a big public debate in Germany too, mostly with some politicians putting big "well then everyone can be back in school for sure!" hopes on it, and the vaccine board going "not so fast!", and experts splitting on both lines. Current state is that Biontech/Pfizer is approved for kids (can be legally used if a doctor decides it's appropriate), but not recommended except for some specific preexisting conditions.
>well then everyone can be back in school for sure!

But I am not sure how it is possible if none of the vaccines are known to prevent transmission.

Just let people vaccinate their kids if they want. This isn’t hard.
Do you think people are aware that these vaccines are novel technology that is only licensed under emergency approval? That no other mRNA vaccine has been licensed for human use until now? That children are likely at more risk from the vaccine than from coronavirus? That vaccine manufacturers have no liability for when things go wrong?

My parents seems surprised that I am not interested in the vaccine. They assume it's just the same as traditional vaccines.
