This is quite ambitious and overarching. Example use-cases include bank applications, renting a car, verifying age at a a nightclub.
From the FAQ:
> How can I obtain a European Digital Identity Wallet?
> Member States will offer the wallet to their citizens and residents at the national level. Everyone will be able to download, install and use the European Digital Identity Wallet on their personal smartphone or device.
I have a very strong concern that this will be only for iOS and Android, and very likely closed source.
There is a line being crossed when Google and Apple control society like this. It is very important that the spec is open and accessible and unpermissioned implementations are universally accepted. If I (or someone else) puts in the work, I should be able to verify my age on a device of my choice.
Aside from that I am not surprised to be disappointed about that the only alre thing I see is sharing for information and documents. This would have been a great opportunity to introduce a standard protocol for attestations; so a provider can attest I fulfill certain criteria without need to disclose documents or private information.
For example the government could attest to my age without needing to disclose my exact birth date.

A digital ID wallet will be good in my opinion but there is a lot that still needs to be worked out to make it inclusive.
