Alternative to uMatrix?

I know uMatrix development has been abandoned for quite a while now [0]. But, at least up until quite recently, it continued to work on my Android browsers of choice [Yandex & Kiwi]. This is, sadly, no longer true. uMatrix on Android now has completely stopped working. It just greys out the screen. No interface appears.

So, is there a worthy alternative or one of the several hundred forks in particular around which most further development is coalescing?

PS: uMatrix continues to work for me on desktop [for now!] It's just on mobile it seems to have recently broken. So presumably a recent change in Chrome for Android [upon which both Yandex and Kiwi are based] has knackered it.

The official suggestion (and what I use) is uBlock Origin in hard mode. It's not really matrix blocking but essentially does 90% of what umatrix did if not more.
Yes. I've seen this recommendation [and also to use UBO in 'medium' mode]. I'm not sure where the settings are to switch these modes. Does clicking the 'More' button to present the expanded popup window do it?... or do I enable it elsewhere? I can't find anything in the settings
After checking "I am an advanced user" you will see a grid like the first image on this page when you click the more button:

From there you can block 3rd party scripts and frames. To save the rule you need to commit it in the "My rules" pane by clicking on the temporary rule you added.

Ah. Got it. Thanks. I think I'm going to have to spend some time reading uBlock Origin's docs. I've pretty much just left it on default settings up to now and used uMatrix for all my individual site tweaking.
