A word of advice: don't read the comments on the article.
That is what some people say about comments on some orange site I frequent :) Any specifics though?
Cool. I don't blame him, and am happy to avoid many Apple products.

My spouse loves Apple, I love Android and we are at opposite extremes in how we use phones.

I would offer the same recommendation!

We have an older iPad, and my spouse's iPhone in the house. They both see a lot of use, and that's just fine.

The iPad is being used by a five-year-old, and the iPhone is being used by my spouse, pretty much surfs the internet and makes phone calls.

Even if regulators accept Apple's argument Apple must show that they are not misusing their market power. If App Store is allowed to continue without sideloading and alternative App Stores they have to cut their margins.

Math:

Currently: 78% profit margin with 30% commission (according to expert testimony in Epic Games lawsuit) That's definition of market power.

6.6% commission would cover all costs.

7.3% commission if Apple is allowed to take 10% profit margin.

The issue isn't the users, it's the developers. Apple represents 50% of American mobile market share, developers can't just "choose Android" because they'll lose access to half their customer-base.
