What are the primal motives for reading? (uxdesign.cc)

One primal motive for reading is the value of stories; life is full of interpreted narrative, and we bond with others over such stories. As far as what makes a better Goodreads, I’m not interested in a social media platform around books. That’s too much of a quagmire for me, and I prefer the “social media lite” of discussion with friends & family, getting recommendations from podcasts (another story delivery mode), and browsing the library.
