Issac Asimov’s 'Foundation' Lands on Apple TV+ September 24 (engadget.com) 7 points by cf100clunk 5y ago ↗ HN
[–] cf100clunk 5y ago ↗ As foretold at HN previously:https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16806260As someone who feels that the cinematic versions of Dune or Starship Troopers were not worth creating, I'm sceptical about any attempt to adapt Asimov's massively-scaled Foundation. [–] zeristor 5y ago ↗ Any mention of the Second HN in that foretelling? [–] Apocryphon 5y ago ↗ Starship Troopers ended up being a very Verhoeven production that was a straight-faced satire on militarism with many audiences not getting the joke.Dune was a very Lynchian production with his memorable trappings. Those adaptations were at least uplifted by auteur directors who made them their own. Remains to be seen if this one will do the same.

[–] skottk 5y ago ↗ Possibly, in all history, the major author who wrote the most words about how he hated it when people spelled his name wrong. [–] kaminar 5y ago ↗ It's like a splinter...within the article and its title.
