Maskers can go FUCKING KILL YOURSELVES!

You are a bunch of neo-nazi fascist motherfuckers!

At some point we have to accept that Corona doesn't go away and stop restricting people.

The next mutation is always around the corner and arbitrarily restricting people's freedom like this is not helping.

I hope politicians around the world where there is a high amount of vaccinated, will take note and let people go about their lives.

Current numbers for UK where Delta is the dominant variant

And a link to the efficacy of vaccines for the Delta variant

I think it all comes down to having the choice to accept increased risk or not. When some portion of the population decides relatively greater risk is worth releatively increased freedom, those around them are opted into this decision.

The converse (contrapositive?) scenario where some portion of the population elects to keep risk lower in exchange for less freedom of movement only benefits those around them.

Edit: An analogy comes to mind at the risk of a strawman. It's a little bit like if some soldiers in a given war become more cavalier as the enemy retreats before them. They decide that - hey, War doesn't go away - and they no longer wear their helmet or refuse to stay low and use cover. If they get hit they may be the only ones who suffer, or an enemy patrol spots the entire detachment because of them and many more bite the bullet. Yes, helmets can be uncomfortable. Yes, we all want to walk where and how we wish.

Furthermore - I honestly do not feel restricted by continuing to wear a mask inside of buildings in NYC. It's barely an afterthought - I just put it on when I approach the door of a building. Yes I'm vaccinated and I'm aware that those around me likely are. I am perfectly content to only not wear a mask outside or in my own home. I don't fully comprehend the "freedom" arguments for lax mask guidelines indoors.

I can see where your war analogy is going, but somehow it doesn't work that well. Where is the metaphor for the vaccine, which actually protects you from getting seriously I'll.

And it's always an option to wear masks if you so choose, it's the part where everyone is forced to do it i oppose.

I guess I stop paying attention as soon as “freedom” is mentioned. Americans are an odd lot.
Well, I'm not an American, if that's what you mean. :)
> stop restricting people.

Wear a mask, the same way you wear your seatbelt. That's not restricting, it's a precaution that is of little to no inconvenience.

I'm not entirely certain why this comment got flagged, but it's fair to point out that there were about 20 times the number of deaths to Covid last year (350,000 reported by the CDC) than there were in lethal traffic crashes (16,650 per caranddriver.com). It's not the worst analogy.

The headline is very misleading.

From the article:

> Citing the Delta variant, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued updated guidance that “strongly recommends” indoor masking regardless of vaccination status. The recommendation is currently voluntary.
