Ask HN: Hardware startups – how are you dealing with the MCU shortage?

I've been working through a pair of electronics projects I plan to sell commercially. I have prototypes and am almost ready to produce to quantity, but I'm unable to buy MCUs. (Almost all STM32s are unavailable) I've considered switching footprint to one that's available, but this seems like a moving target.

What strategies have you used? It seems like the only options are to switch to something not used much commercially like ESP, or delay launch indefinitely. The shortage has been going on for a while, but up until about a month ago, there were still options available. This will presumably affect many hardware startups. If you're in the same boat, what's your plan?
