I'd recently started watching their youtube videos. I found it very interesting to take a peek inside the world of watch dealing.
On one side their business practices were absolutely shambolic. In one of their recent videos they talked about how they're managing their inventory (100's of watches) with a single shared excel spreadsheet and how they have mismatches between the spreadsheet and their actual inventory all the time. A death sentence for any business.
Then on the other side they were in talks about opening up a store and expanding very rapidly. Their plans for the store were extremely ambitious. Huge floorplan, floor to ceiling fishtanks, watch history museum. My gut was telling me that they were growing too fast and that this plan was not feasible. Then at the eleventh hour of negotiations for the lease they pulled out because the landlord was "taking too long" to finalize the paperwork! Huge red flag.
Hope the investors get their money back. They will have to show up eventually. With how high profile they were there's no way they can hide forever if they have run off with the inventory.
