Great article. Looked into different solutions as well and settled with Unraid running Plex. For syncing the photo libraries used Photosync on Android.
OP: thanks for sharing! If you notice slow app startup times, it may be snap: I decided not to publish a snap version of PhotoStructure due to extremely poor performance (especially on low powered VPSes).
Also, know that there are tons of alternative DAMs! Alex recently wrote up a good overview on arstechnica (I was delighted that PhotoStructure tied for first place in a couple categories):
Thanks for letting me know, I'll keep an eye on it. Though tbh the Droplet is so low powered I'll be surprised if it has zero issues with slow-down over time.
