Was the "Grabem" domain taken?
that was exactly where my mind went as well.
> The app, which is in beta testing, appears in the Apple App Store and is described as “a non-bias social network for people all over the world.”

Reminds me of this koan:

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky.

“I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied.

“Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky.

“I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.

Minsky then shut his eyes.

“Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.

“So that the room will be empty.”

At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Side note, but what's with the trend of people saying/spelling "biased" as "bias"? Is it just because the "-sed" in "biased" kind of blends together when pronounced / is awkward to clearly separate, so eventually some people just think that's what the word is? (I know a lot of words across many/all languages develop that way, so not really complaining, but when you're in the midst of it it feels a bit weird.)
It's exactly that. Lack of understanding the structure of the language. Same as "should of" - it is learning language by ear rather than by reading (or by underlying principle).
The use of the word "bias" as an adjective there is technically incorrect. I've only seen it just now in the phrase "non-bias social network" - but I hope it does not catch on.

> Bias vs. Biased

> In recent years, we have seen more evidence of the adjectival bias in constructions like “a bias news program” instead of the more usual “a biased news program.”

> The reason is likely because of aural confusion: the -ed of biased may be filtered out by hearers, which means that bias and biased can sound similar in the context of normal speech.

> They are not interchangeable, however. The adjective that means “exhibited or characterized by an unreasoned judgment” is biased (“a biased news story”). There is an adjective bias, but it means “diagonal” and is used only of fabrics (“a bias cut across the fabric”).

>There is an adjective bias, but it means “diagonal” and is used only of fabrics (“a bias cut across the fabric”).

Ah, interesting; didn't know about that particular definition.

Also the old bias ply tires on trucks too... (as in not radial)
I mean, the most literal meaning of "a bias" is "a slant," which is where you get terms like "bias tape" and "bias cut."

From this literal sense of "slant," you get the figurative sense of "inclination" or "preferential treatment." This meaning appears in quotations hundreds of years old.

Finally, as "biased" stops being a fancy newspaper word and enters the popular lexicon, it gets subjected to regular pronunciation tendencies. And one of those tendencies is the simplification and elimination of -d at the ends of words. A lot of people in the US pronounce "hand me that" as "hammy that," "send me an email" as "simmy an email," and so on.

So it's not surprising that saying and writing "bias" instead of "biased" is popular.

I concur with your reasoning and I've also observed this phenomenon with "text" and "texted", in the sense of "to send an SMS", eg. "I texted her earlier but she never replied"; most people I know would write this as "I text her earlier", which seems contrary to the way verbs normally work in English. (I always feel faintly ridiculous being pedantic about this since "to text" as a verb was only invented in the nineties!)
I wish I had any kind of celebrity in the right wing. Like Jason Miller will probably be set for retirement off of this one stunt, maybe he can even write a book and go on tour. People from these circles basically have a direct line to the wallet of most people over 50 in America; anyone have ideas for how we can get in on this hustle?
It's not like what right wing celebrities are doing is a secret. One could imitate them, but I'm sure the current celebrities will not enjoy the competition.

Begin by maybe getting the domain name "squeeeeeelreport.com", installing Wordpress, put some Christian and American flag paraphernalia up there as well. Then repost articles but comment on it as though you were one of them.

Don't forget to pepper each post title with SLAMS and DESTORYS and HAPPENING.

Downvoters: Am I wrong?

The part you're missing is claiming to have insider anonymous sources (see also left wing "sources familiar with the thinking of [subject]") who will release the information to us either at the perfect time in the future, or through an encrypted "drop" in "the block chain"
Easy.

Tell people that everything from when they were young is "right" and that everything new in the last n years is "wrong".

You won't even need to do much research. Hand around people of the age that you're targeting, and just parrot their opinions.

(WARNING: This doesn't work if the people you hang around are perpetual learners and constantly challenge themselves. If they're the kind of person who takes language classes "for fun", run away -- their opinions will have nothing to do with your target.)

Step 1, for the highest likelihood of success, is to get into the circle of someone pretty high-up the chain already, or otherwise to get someone with an audience to hand you a megaphone, metaphorically speaking. Beware that navigating your way up that chain may be... cut-throat, and you're more likely to end up overworked and exploited or tossed aside for convenience than joining others on the good side of the grift.

Otherwise, invent a character you think right-wingers would like and play the character on YouTube or similar. See how it goes. Low-cost, might work.

I don't think your stereotypes reflect reality. People 45 and older are statistically ambivalent on Trump - about 50% of them voted for Trump, 50% didn't. The same holds true when you look at just 65+ people: https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/exit-polls/president/natio...
According to your single exit poll of 15k people. Over 159 million Americans voted in 2020.

56% of Republican and GOP-leaning voters are ages 50 and older, up from 39% in 1996.

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/10/26/what-the-20...

With all due respect you need a lesson in statistics. 15,000 people can be a great sample size, and saying that 56% of republicans are over 50 implies nothing about the percentage of people over 50 who are republicans.
It's pretty easy, just drop any hangups you have about blatantly lying to people and go for it.

Summary of the allegation for anyone who doesn't want to click:

>The court filing in question stated that Delgado had been informed that Miller had an affair with a “Jane Doe”; that this other woman became pregnant; that shortly thereafter, Miller visited the woman’s apartment with a smoothie; and that unbeknownst to Jane Doe, the smoothie contained an abortion pill, which induced an abortion.

>Krueger’s article reads, in part, “Additionally, the court documents claim, when the woman found out she was pregnant, Miller surreptitiously dosed her with an abortion pill without her knowledge, leading, the woman claims, to the pregnancy’s termination and nearly her death.”

ah, so he's a real republican. Holier than thou in public, worse than the devil in private.
I'm not a Republican, but 1) that doesn't seem relevant and just seems like needlessly injected political vitriol, and 2) there's no shortage of either Democrats or Republicans who fit that category.
If a woman can choose to abort whenever she desires, so can the impregnating man make her abort.
A couple of interesting things about this new product:

1. This is an "source available" project, they published with sourcemaps on: https://twitter.com/adgodev/status/1410667547335217169

2. They copy a lot of content (images + posts) from Twitter itself. For example, they hotlink images from Twitter: https://twitter.com/z3dster/status/1410654138921279499

3. They will be enforcing moderation practices to remove "objectionable material of any kind" per their user agreement.

> Gettr

It must be written in Java. Does it come bundled with a Settr app?

TL;DR: Trumpists are going to build their own Twitter, with Q and former president.

It's amusing reading all the leftist comments here.
Imagine being so fragile as to believe that anyone who agrees with the objective truth that Trump and his ilk are proto-fash trash must be a radical leftist and your sworn enemy.

Get your head out of the propaganda machine's bunghole.

The vast majority of the population are NPCs awaiting their automatic firmware updates. You sound like you're fully up to date, godspeed.
Unperson and other `The vast majority of the population`. Hard to NOT SEE that coming.

nonnpc is a god among troggs, for sure.

I haven't seen someone use "NPCs" unironically in this context since...2018? I thought it was just used now to make fun of how unoriginal the right is.

Do you still say "cuck" too?!

Also probably believes in "wokists" and "cancel culture". All manner of dumbed down newspeak that is very characteristic of fascists.
"Calling leftists NPCs is unoriginal, so we're going to call right-wingers NPCs!"

No u.

The reason you haven't seen "cuck" much is because it's been auto-modded on reddit for years now, and comments using it typically get [flagged] here on HN.

We've banned this account for breaking the site guidelines with unsubstantive and/or flamewar comments, and political/ideological battle comments. Accounts aren't allowed to use HN primarily for the latter, regardless of what they're battling for or against, because it destroys the curious conversation this place is supposed to exist for.

If you don't want to be banned, you're welcome to email hn@ycombinator.com and give us reason to believe that you'll follow the rules in the future. They're here: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html.

well, I mean, at least they are building their own tech and their own platforms I guess...
I tried to register for this, partly to check it out and partly to reserve a minimum length (5) name just in case. Sadly, my confirmation email never came through after about an hour of waiting and multiple retries.
So... is this Grindr for conservatives?
You can even specify your favorite kinks such as: incest, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and lizard people cosplay.
This comment gave me a chuckle, but I don’t think it will last very long on HN ;-)
's ok, I'll take one for the team
I predict it will do about as well as Parler or Gab. Meaning: it’ll burn money from deep pockets for political motives but never make a profit unless it becomes part of some campaign grifting scheme.

No one can afford to moderate a social network that attracts a small group of people requiring a disproportionate amount of moderation.

Moderate enough and it’s both too expensive and not seen as “free speech” enough by the target audience. Moderate too little and you’ll expose yourself to legal risk and you’ll struggle to find hosting.

We have seen this before.

Oh boy, I can’t wait for the detailed and nuanced discussion on gender identity and marginalized communities!
Finally, a place on the internet where the voice of the oppressed white male establishment can be heard!
Well, they say it will be non-biased, so I think the suggestion is to spam it with woke, LBTQ, pro-BLM content while it's still trying to get traction.
