Ask HN: Is there an ideal day of the week to apply for a job?

2 points by mqp ↗ HN
Started applying for roles recently and was wondering about this.

Friday seems less ideal to me, being the end of the work week and perhaps managers/hr aren't too keen to open such emails.

There is the risk that notifications and emails will get buried over the weekend in other communications.

By this logic I feel Monday morning is the best time. Anyone agree/disagree?

EDIT: Am I over thinking this?

If you're getting in touch with people directly, friday afternoon is probably less effective. (Although you could also catch someone bored and waiting to go home that reads it immediately; less so these days). Monday morning may also be bad because there may be pressing stuff to deal with after the weekend.

For submitting an application to a job posting, they generally just get collected as they come in, then screened all at once, so when you send it doesn't matter.
