Ask HN: Oldest RDBMS I can run on *nix or Docker?

I've been reading a lot about the origin of SQL and RDBMS's. I'd love to spin one up and and see how it compares to today's RDBMSs. I was thinking along the lines of IBM System R or an early version of Ingres.

Ingres has a bloody history. Well.. not Ingres in 4.x BSD per se, but the subsequent history of what was done by whom to who, and the financial consequences.

I only have this as oral history. I suspect its unrepeatably libellous.

sounds juicy! my motivation is pure -- I really only want to play around with the earliest possible SQL spec.
