I have another Belgian solution that you can put on a postcard. For some context, Belgium is divided in a Dutch speaking part (Flanders) and a French speaking part (Wallonia). Contrary to common belief the French speaking part is a minority, it's not really relevant here but websites always get it wrong when they default to French for Belgian IP addresses.
Anyway back to Belgian solutions... About 10 years ago there were plans to change the colour of the license plates from red text on a white background to black text on a white background to improve readability. This was blocked by the French speaking minister at the time because this looked too Flemish. In the end they compromised on dark red text on a white background.
