Ask HN: Any programmable SmartNICs with pricing suitable to hobbyists?

Ever since I’ve heard of SmartNICs I’ve imagined all sorts of odd projects to do with them, but obviously they are not generally targeted to consumers. I’ve noticed Nvidia has some at affordable prices ($200-$400 per unit), but they seem to be ASIC based with limited programmability.

Does anyone make more user programmable SmartNICs (FPGA or SoC based is fine) at that sort of pricing. Everything I’ve seen is thousands of dollars per unit.
